"Satire" on Facebook is spreading lies faster and farther than any right wing 'news' site.

These sites put out the most outrageous stories that, judging by the 'thumbs up' icon, the comments and the memes shared, a whole lot of people believe and spread. At this point they become lies.

They include every sort of dangerous conspiracy theory designed to foment mistrust in our climate science, our vaccines, our elections...

They include made up stories designed to turn the comment section into a mini "us vs them" arena, separating us further. And, again, if the meme is insulting to some group, person or idea the right wing doesn't like it's more thumb up 'hell yeah's, and sharing (spreading) the meme (lie).

I remember when Jordan Peterson shared a post from the freaking "Dunning-Kruger Times" as fact. He's a smart guy, right? Dumber people are doing this every day, all the time.

It's dumbing us down in real time and you can watch it in the Facebook comments on these meses.
