Biden plans intel brief for Trump, despite his history with leaksThe decision would be in keeping with a tradition that dates back to 1952, but it would mark the first time an administration has volunteered to share classified information with a candidate who is facing criminal charges on charges that he mishandled classified documents.
The Biden administration intends to share intelligence with the former president no matter the outcome of his trial in Florida, according to a senior intelligence official and a second person with knowledge of internal conversations. They, like some others interviewed, were granted anonymity to discuss sensitive internal deliberations.
The sit-down is not legally required, but for the last 72 years, incumbent administrations have tapped the spy agencies to read in the candidates of both major political parties on some of the most pressing threats to the country. While often this is just one meeting, sometimes candidates receive several briefings.
The briefings, which are managed by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and approved by the White House, normally take place after the national conventions in late summer.

(2,059 posts)Hopefully he'll keep it high level, "just so you're aware this is a thing" kind of info.
I fully agree though to give him a mix of real and false info and see where it leads.
I can hear TFG at one of his rallys - "I have to get intelligence briefings now. Did you know this? They have to give me intelligence briefings now because I'm so ahead in the polls. The things that are going on are just unbelievable. The people in these meetings are so happy to see me when I walk into the room. They're like 'Sir. We're so glad you're back!' And I'm like 'Yeah...". And where's Biden? Where's Biden? Is he here? Is he asleep? Oh, he's asleep over there in the corner. And the people in these meetings are asking me 'Sir. What should we do about this or that?' and I'm like.. Well, I can't say anything because I'm not the President. But I say 'Well, this is what I would do.' But I can't say that. And they're like 'Oh, thank you Sir. It's been a mess without you.'...

(2,016 posts)It would be unlawful to share classified information with a person under indictment. If this is true, I'm probably done with the entire political system of this country. There isn't any possible justification and the current administrations position should be "The GOP is just going to have to nominate someone who isn't under indictment for stealing military secrets". For the love of fark, is there any sane person left in this country?

Separately, the president-elect is not receiving the President's Daily Brief, the compendium of high-level intelligence reporting that goes to the most senior officials in the government. President Donald Trump could authorize that with a word, but he has not done so.
On Tuesday, Biden confirmed to reporters that he was not receiving the daily brief. Obviously the PDB would be useful but its not necessary," he said. "Im not the sitting president now.
Access to classified information is useful but Im not in a position to make any decisions on these issues anyway. It would be nice to have it but its not critical."

(707 posts)In the regular chatter you add something only to that briefing that causes the Russians to do something minor. Thereby outing his dissemination of classified information to a foreign adversary.
In the lead up to the Battle of Midway we werent sure if the Japanese were going to attack Alaska islands or Midway. So we let slip on purpose that the desalination pumps were down and needed freshwater at Midway. The Japanese intercepted the message and sent their own coded message to their fleet to bring desalination pumps with them. Boom we knew for sure where they planned to attack.
Including something to his brief that might cause Putin to redeploy some specific hardware for no good reason should do the trick.

They didn't recognize him as the Pres Elect.
Hopefully a lot of good things happen and TSF Never sees Anymore Intel briefings.

I'd say meet with Trump alone, give him the briefing verbally or allow him to read it himself and do not allow him to keep any copies. He's hardly capable of understanding and passing anything on verbally now anyway.
