President Obama made a surprise appearance at an Arlington, Va. bookstore on a nationwide small business shopping day.
Obama and his daughters Sasha and Malia visited One More Page Books on Saturday, where he purchased 15 children's books. The White House said they will be given as gifts.
Obama used his BlackBerry to look up a title, as he spoke with shop owner Eileen McGervey. "Preparation," Obama said. "That's how I shop."
Obama declined to answer a shouted question from reporters, saying only: "We're doing Christmas shopping. ... Happy Thanksgiving, folks."
Small business Saturday is a nationwide day where Americans are urged to shop at local stores. It comes the day after Black Friday, the biggest holiday shopping event of the year.

I'm assuming they checked the store out while waiting on him to arrive.
She also said President Obama was exceptionally gracious and even made sure that my MIL (who was in the store getting ready to go to lunch with her daughter) was included in the official photo.

(1,763 posts)And at a local bookshop, too. Here's hoping more Americans make a point to shop and eat locally at small businesses and restaurants. I've been doing this for a few years and I've met the coolest people along the way.
