(7,044 posts)Fox (R) is such a lameass Republican party propaganda catapult, and as this clip makes plain, they have a reeking anti-American bias, and a pathetically deep fear of honesty.

(13,877 posts)I never heard of him before. Loved it. Only comment would be that he could have hogged 3 or 4 minutes of "our side's" propaganda. That's how they do it...drone on and on and on...and make the host interrupt them for a follow-up or another question. The blank look on the interviewer's face was priceless. Asked and answered. Alien concept.
Edit: looked at the still photo again and he looks pained...good.
1StrongBlackMan
(31,849 posts)via a NPR interview about his book, Generals. The book seems interesting in that he talks about the pros and cons of U.S. General, Eisenhower through Petraes. He had alot of good to say about Petraes; but said that the most common negative he heard about Petraes was ... "he was a great General; but nowhere near as great as the man thought he was."
His end comment was ... "The biggest problem with most Generals is they are, oftentimes, just too full of themselves."

Happening Now
November 26, 2012
11:16 a.m. EDT
JON SCOTT: Right now pressure mounting on the Obama Administration over its response to the deadly attack on our consulate in Benghazi. As Catherine Herridge reported just minutes ago. Several top GOP lawmakers are backing off their criticism of U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice. Instead focusing on the White House. Two Senators even expressing concerns about a possible white house cover-up. Let's talk about it with Tom Ricks, he is author of The Generals. He has spent decades covering our military. He joins us now. Senator John McCain has said in the past that he would block any attempt to nominate Susan Rice to become, U.N., I'm sorry, Secretary of State. She is currently the U.N. Ambassador. He seems to be backing away from that. What do you make of it?
TOM RICKS: I think that Benghazi generally was hyped by this network especially. And now that the campaign is over I think he is backing off a little bit. Theyre not going to stop Susan Rice from being Secretary of State.
SCOTT: When you have four people dead including the first U.S. Ambassador in more than 30 years, how do you call that hype.
RICKS: How many security contractors died in Iraq? Do you know?
SCOTT: I don't.
RICKS: No, nobody does because nobody cared. We know that several hundred died but there was never an official count done of security contractors dead in Iraq. So when I see this focus on what was essentially a small firefight I think number one, Ive covered a lot of firefights. Its impossible to figure out what happens in them sometimes. And second, I think that the emphasis on Benghazi has been extremely political partly because fox was operating as the wing of Republican Party.
SCOTT: Alright, Tom ricks, thanks very much for joining us today.
RICKS: You're welcome.

(211 posts)People Google Bomb by organizing a whole bunch of people to type in some word ("bengazi" in the Google search box, and then scroll through the links to find the one they want people to see (i.e. this video.) If enough people do this enough times, the link will become the "most relevent" search for Bengazi as per Google's automatic system.
I may be wrong, but I remember reading somewhere that this was how Google Bombing was done. Good luck organizing it, but it is possible. Even though Google tends to frown upon it.

(126 posts)That's up there with that Fox News piece when they went to the diner in Pennsylvania in 2008. The reporter asked for a show of hands to indicate who people were voting for. 12 people raised their hands for Obama and 2 for McCain. The anchor said that the vote was a 50/50 split. The sound of laughter in the diner was audible.

(6,486 posts)......It will only offer extremely partisan smears,
distortions and dirty tricks - Fox will always be a joke of inaccurate
'news' source.
Fox will remain nothing more than a republican propaganda machine as it
is now for the uninformed, uneducated & extremely gullible - Which
Fox loves to perpetuate...for ideology & profit..
Even though study after study shows that Fox 'news' viewers are the most
uniformed viewers seeking information. - Fox prefers that those viewers
remain uninformed as studies show those uninformed viewers will vote
republicans.
When the Dems, Obama do anything positive, such as cutting taxes on the
middle-class (as Obama has elven times, the lowest tax rates since the
1950's) Fox will NOT report it or anything else positive by the
democratic party - Keeping their viewers amazingly ignorant - purposely.
Old right-winger Rupert Mudoch loves it this way keeping viewers
uninformed through fearful tactics keeping the fearful turning in and
hating the Fox supplied perpetrators.
Fox will never change.....Murdoch & Ailes know scandal
sensationalistic tabloid reporting brings in viewers for massive revenue
and encourages the corporate republican ideology & agenda Murdoch
& Ailes seek.

Generation Kill. One of the Marines depicted in the book and miniseries, Nate Fick, was at Dartmouth when he heard a speech by Ricks about the Marine Corps. Ricks also has a book called Making The Corps about Marine training. Ricks' speech plus his desire to do something challenging and important, led Fick to join the Marine Corps. Fick wrote his own book called One Bullet Away about his career as a Marine officer. The two ended up working together at a left leaning defense policy think tank called CNAS.
Ricks has also won a couple of Pullitzers for his military reporting.

(2,679 posts)I mean according the last paragraph from the MSM about this interview being cut short well here is the last paragraph from the washington post
When Mr. Ricks ignored the anchors question, it became clear that his goal was to bring attention to himself and his book, Fox News executive Michael Clemente said.

I don't see how it became clear that Mr. Ricks goal was to promote his book when he never mentions his book.
