In A Discussion Last Night on Deadline White House
a guest Nicole had on was discussing the Sumpreme Court seeming to lean towards throwing out some January 6 convictions based on obstruction charges. The guest, sorry I am blanking on the name, said he remembers being shocked at how little recourse there is to deal with Supreme Court Justices, if they decide not to follow the rules themselves.
Yes they can be impeached, but that's not likely to happen given the small majority Democrats have in the Senate. I know some people say they care about their reputations and what the history books say about them, but I don't think that's a strong enough motive for them to do the right thing. If it were Thomas would have recused himself. Plus if they cared about public opinion they never would have over turned Roe. Not to mention if their party gets what it wants, the history books will be written by that party, and they will make themselves out to be heroes.
I hope they don't give Trump full immunity, or mess with the results of the elections in November, but there are basically no major consequences they will have to face if they do. At least not that I can see. Am I missing something? Is there anything we can do except count on their miniscule consciences? They're nomination hearings have already shown their willingness to blatantly lie. That's why I worry about them trying to pull something crooked. I now see why it's moniker is the "Most Dangerous Branch."
