Real Time with Bill Maher continues its 22nd season Friday, April 19 (10:00-11:00 p.m. live ET/7:00-8:00 p.m. PT), with a replay at 11:32 p.m., exclusively on HBO.
This week features a one-on-one interview with Jillian Michaels, a fitness and nutrition expert, as well as the host of the podcast Keeping It Real: Conversations with Jillian Michaels.
This week's in-studio panel discussion will include Jon Meacham, Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and author of The Call to Serve: The Life of an American President, George Herbert Walker Bush; and Jane Ferguson, award-winning foreign correspondent for PBS NewsHour, contributor to The New Yorker, also known for her book No Ordinary Assignment.
Sympthsical
(9,093 posts)That's about to be a long conversation about how Ozempic is terrible and people are lazy while Maher agrees.
Which, I dunno. After my partner and I both gained sedentary Covid weight, we just went back to the gym together. He walks twice a day as well. Our nutrition is pretty good nowadays. (He said, after ordering Combos off Amazon yesterday). However, some people seem to need Ozempic. I literally have no experience with it and don't personally anyone know anyone on it, so no dog in this fight.
But Michaels is doing battle with everyone about it online, so one can guess what that interview is going to be like.

(205,839 posts)And with all that's going on in the world - and this country - right now, it doesn't sound like a particularly important story.
And dont be surprised if theres a good dose of anti vax mixed in.
Ozempic is a miracle drug for millions of people. While it might not be for everyone, it most certainly is the only way to a healthy weight for a lot of people. Coworker literally doesnt have diabetes anymore because of Ozempic. Good friend has hope in his life now because of it.
If exercise and diet were so easy to do and get to a healthy weight, then there would be no obesity. Its just impossible for millions of people to lose weight and they arent just lazy.
Ozempic generics need to be fast tracked as its so darned expensive.

(41,990 posts)I cant figure out how anyone believes they have the right to dictate how someone tries to tackle a problem with their health. My fucking body, my fucking right to seek health in any way that doesnt harm anyone else, bitch.
Im so over Maher and his shit. And by his shit I mean Jillian Michaels.

(7,527 posts)The promo for Meacham's book about Bush reads like a hagiography for a real piece of shit who "served" his country as an elite who used its resources to promote Wall Street interests at the expense of third world countries. For a true account of the Bush family's long, sordid history of serving the needs of them and their fellow elites, read Russ Baker's Family of Secrets.
The fitness expert will probably serve as another sycophant for Maher's ignorance on the matter of health, mostly about his flawed linking of COVID to obesity (repeating ad naseum that high percentage of victims were considered obese while ignoring the fact that a similar number of the general population are also in that category).
question everything

(205,839 posts)And Jon Meacham is always a favorite, I love hearing from the presidential historians - and the reporter should fit in well, too.
