enough with the text messages begging for campaign donations

all it does is turn me off from even considering a donation in the future. I get them for congressional races across the country. 4 different ones so far today. all the constant begging does is make me want to ignore all candidates. im not "chipping in" to help candidates 2000 miles away from my house. iden in 20

I donated to biden in 2020 and again in 2023. Beto in texas, assorted other races around me. but no more. im tired of my phone notifying me of a text message multiple times a day begging for money

STOP IT...

I'm on a limited income so those donations are part of my budget. My cell phone number is a carefully guarded secret but someone got it and put it out there, I have a very limited data plan and the bill tripled in one month. I am not amused! Needless to say no donations until that bill is paid.

“You agreed to get text messages from the DNC…” after I texted my thousandth STOP to stop the texts. The whole tone was patronizing, very off-putting. Like, yeah I agreed to get some texts, but not ALL texts for every freaking race in the country, I didn’t agree to being spammed! That’s when I just started blocking and deleting them.

They just don't. Some of us want our phones to be free for emergencies, or not distracting us from things that interest us more. Like a life of peace and quiet.

It's like people hanging on the doorbell all day trying to rip--trying to get money from me for whatever. I don't go to their house and bug them, so why are they bugging me? If I wanted your rando texts or you on my bloody front porch, I'd give you my number or invite you to bloody tea. If I didn't give you my number or invite you onto my property, then who the bloody fuck are you to disrupt my peace and quiet?

If you want campaigns to rely on grassroots micro-donations, you're going to have to accept that this (and emails) are the way campaigns raise the money they need (if they didn't get a good return, they wouldn't do it).

When one opens up their e-mail account and finds it filled with money requests from states and counties on the other side of the country-----I'd say complaining about it is warranted. The campaigns are not doing themselves a service; people are getting disgusted and vowing never to donate again.

I know I'm sick of it.

So i'm HAPPY they call for donations as much as they are. That tells me THEY also know how important it is. I give as much as i can, and hope others give as much as they can. I don't think of it as "BEGGING". Just do what you can and don't get so upset. Not that hard to just do what you can, and that's that.

I’m getting fundraising texts from every state except the one I live in, some claim to be from Obama or Biden when I know damn well it’s political strategists sending the texts. I have gotten up to six in a day, usually I get around 3. It’s super obnoxious. Obviously not gonna change my vote, but ya know, we liberals aren’t stupid and when we want to make a campaign donation, we can figure out how to do it. The fundraising texts are just as spammy as Newt Gingrich’s direct mailers clogging up my mailbox in the ‘90s. At least then I could just laugh because he totally didn’t know his audience, but these texts are super annoying.

One donation is all it takes to put a target on your back. Very rude, in my opinion, to machine-gun donors with constant pleas for more of their money. A shitty way to show their appreciation is all I can say. Because of their rudeness, I am no longer a donor to any campaign.

When you're getting 10 or 20 a day.

They have no right to intrude on my privacy, or on my peace and quiet. If I want to donate to someone, I will. But I bloody well will never do it to someone who cold-calls me out of the blue 5 times when I'm expecting an important text from someone I actually, you know, KNOW.

Even worse many of the solicitations use tiny urls (bit.ly) so you have no clue whether they are actually legitimate and they could be malicious, as in do damage to your phone, computer, or privacy and security.
I mark every single one as spam. But it takes my time to do so. I resent it just as much as everyone else who’s complaining.

Right now, I use the mass delete function in gmail. If I don't check for a few days, there are 100's of Act Blue emails asking for money. Act Blue is incentivized and the campaigns are too to assault your email.

I give to the to the national Rep/Sen campaigns....let them figure who needs/deserves it.

My solution-

Act Blue gives you a single point access to every race in the country. You commit to, say, $100.oo/mo. Monthly, you can reassign/reallocate your $100.00 to a completely different set of candidates. Your choice.

One (1) Act Blue email providing the software to reallocate your political portfolio as you see fit.

Just counting national elections, we received 351 texts and emails requesting donations. I added up the minimum $$ request and it far exceeded our monthly fixed income.

The most insulting are these stupid polls asking to confirm who you're going to vote for...Biden or Trump. Thinly disguised as fund raising.

I've gotten to the point where I just respond Stop on texts and unsubscribe for emails. I know how to make our contributions at the end of the month which we will continue to do so.

A necessary evil I guess, but overall the language of the texts and emails are insulting to us small, grass roots supporters.
