This is why Trump may win.

70 percent of voters say that the country’s political and economic systems need major changes — or even to be torn down entirely.

A lot of voters apparently want to tear the whole thing down.

It is frightening how many people are super angry about prices, ignorant of current economic conditions and oblivious to the destruction that awaits them by voting for Republicans in November.

We all need to be very scared as to what has at least a 50/50 chance of occurring this November.

But suffering and anarchy.

“Tear it all down”, is the impulse of a selfish child having a tantrum.

I despair for this country.

That bs 70% is half for one reason and the other half for the opposite reasons.
My half ain’t burning down nothin’.
Must be your half you speak of.
Major change isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Trump will lose by way more votes. So many more that the electoral college will go his way, too.

See you in November.

There are over 330 million people in this country. Over 160 million registered voters.

They are not going to agree on what to support. There may be 160 million different feelings about what should be done.

To suggest 70% have the same view on a broad poll question is not rational.

The poll question would have a better chance with those actively involved in politics in their party. But we all know that even members of the Democratic or Republican members in Congress are not always in agreement with fellow party members.

The general public would not even have enough to provide a good answer.

Statisticians and demographers long ago figured that out. That's why they so often break society down to within +/-3%, with a 95% confidence interval.

Because people aren't all that different, in reality.

Even a basic stats class would have told you that.

There was no context, no reason given for those voters' thoughts, no presentation of facts, no mention of what Trump would do, no mention of Democracy, and no mention of history.

It is just right-wing propaganda about ignorant voters that the NYTimes helped create and how proud they are of that.

His militant buddies will cause mayhem at the polls and make it impossible for scores of citizens to vote, still, Biden will win in a landslide. BUT, a constitutional crisis will be caused by citizens not being able to vote and then it will be up to his cronies in Congress, his allies in swing states and the Supreme Court to make sure Trump is the winner. Let the oligarchy begin....

Used to blame things on their emotionally distant parents, dysfunctional families.

Republicans blamed everything on the government (Democrats) and gradually over the decades more people believed it and now here we are, everybody's angry and hateful and blaming government. That "Thanks, Obama" meme was perfect.
