What is wrong with this picture?

The CIA Director, David Petraeus, resigns because of an affair with a younger reporter who has access to his email and secret movements. She exposes a sleazy network of insiders and profiteers within the CIA. The Congress refused to vote an extra $300 million dollars for security for our embassies and overseas establishments. And what do the Republicans want to investigate?

They want to know why the UN Ambassador, who had no direct connection to Benghazi, said what she said in front of the TV cameras, when she only said what she was told by the intelligence agencies, most specifically, the CIA? Now, they are all over her as being the problem? Shouldn't they get their heads out of their asses and investigate the real problems??

the story for the casual reader/listener to follow is nearly always a gross simplification, if not outright obfuscation, of what's really going on.

you've caught on to the fact that the whole benghazi attack against rice makes no sense on the surface. nevermind the cia angle, at worst they got the explanation for the attack wrong when handling p.r. in no universe is this ever anything more than a minor embarassment, a one-day story if at all. gee, we initially said it was a spontaneous attack; on further investigation it turns out it was a planned terrorist attack. what on earth is the "scandal" here?

but they're not interested in the cia, nor are they interested in embassy security.

so what is the subtext?

most likely, they want kerry as secretary of state so as to vacate his senate seat; although chalking up a faux "scandal" against the administration is certainly a bonus.

this matter. McCain is becoming more and more irrelevant and would like to keep his toe in the water and give him something to do...

Why? We all know mccain is motivated only by what he himself will benefit or vengeance. This poor excuse of a human has been given a free pass to every news organization in U S to spew his version of every topic he deems important, never being question of the validity. This man has voted against every veteran bill that improves their lives (while the press says nothing or promotes him as a veteran advocate). He has voted against every min wage hike except one just before his presidential run in 2008. He treated the families of Vietnam POWs with such disrespect during congressional hearings that brought many to tears. This man is an unhinged bully with no moral compass. We can only hope that this tirade will bring attention to his true character.
