(28,498 posts)I like this statement particularly--
Obama also is demanding that dividends be taxed as normal income and that the estate tax be raised to 45 percent and expanded to cover estates worth as little as $3.5 million...
We've seen what happens when "compromise" with the GOP is attempted...

(3,888 posts)The scoffing responses, of the losing GOP to Obama's proposal, serve to highlight the unwillingness of republicans to recognize that they lost the election and that Americans have rejected their plans to further fleece us.
Their policies have ruined the economy and caused untold misery/poverty among their countrymen. Those policies have been discredited and deserve no consideration when crafting a plan to clean up the mess they caused.
American politicians need a twelve step plan, one that first, and honestly, recognizes the behavior/policies that have caused our economic problems. If we cannot recognize or admit the cause of our problems we will not be able to solve them.
One cannot deal effectively with alcoholism by cutting out half of the booze one consumes and we cannot get our economy back on track by cutting out half the behaviors that caused it to collapse.
No quarter for republican ideas.
