Went to Ft Lewis last night...First time on a military base ever! My boyfriend needed to go to the PX (I wasnt sure what that was tho lol) First thing I noticed was that its like its own little city! fast food, gas stations etc.....apparently, people can live there and never have to leave....Movie theaters, bowling alleys....whatever...its all there....
Maybe this is all common knowledge to alot of people but to me, it was amazing!
I was also aware that I was probably politically out numbered, especially since he and I are a alternative lifestyle couple of sorts lol but I still knew...I was surrounded by heroes....and I was humbled!

but one of the most curious things was...in the clothing store store...the PX...everything...EVERYTHING was made in america! I was GLAD cause I think I would have been a little sick to my stomach if it wasnt...but still....how come I can go shopping and find barely ANYTHING made in america?

Anyway, after we left there, we went to my grandmothers house and picked up all here christmas stuff shes collected over the years...shes not going to decorate anymore and we wanted the stuff to stay in the family....so I added that truckload to the truckload of christmas stuff the ex hubby brought by the night before...so now I have two truckloads of christmas stuff extra trees and all! My boyfriend mentioned that his battle buddy and his pregnant wife dont have any christmas stuff yet...so I get to put together a christmas for them My boyfriend seemed amazed that I'm not offended by the existance of christmas.....he always is scared to offend me if he sings along with a christmas carol.....hes just a midwestern boy whos been misled about atheists...I dont hate christmas...I love it and to me its just a family holiday filled with folklore, I dont have to believe it to enjoy it....I only hate when someone says im going to hell or tries to force their beliefs on me....pretty simple really lol

he was raised by a cult pretty much....and politically hes all over the map lol...but...I'm getting thru to him a little at a time

1. As a non-Christian, I always enjoyed Christmas whole-heartedly.

And back in high school I began looking into all the Christmas traditions that seemed to have little to do with the birth of Jesus.

That was 35 years ago and as so many are coming to realize, Christmas is much more a folk festival with Christian thingies tacked on later.
