Boehner appoints Female Committee Chair of house committee on housekeeping

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) announced on Friday the appointment of Rep. Candice Miller (R-MI) as chairman of the House Administration Committee for the 113th Congress.

“From ensuring the House runs efficiently and smoothly, to making Congress more open and accessible, Candice has a big job ahead as chairman of the House Administration Committee," Boehner said in a statement. "In her new post, Candice will provide the leadership needed to keep operating costs down, save taxpayer dollars, and help lawmakers use new technology to better engage with their constituents."

House Republicans were previously criticized for not appointing any women or minorities to committee chairmanships.

Sounds just like the type of job a woman can do, make sure the house runs smoothly.

This is worse than no women at all. It's like when you boss appoints some woman in the office, always a woman, to plan the annual Christmas party and order supplies.

Is that anything like an executive assistant or in the olden days a secretary? Boy, these republicans are evolving at break neck speed.

But yeah, this does sound a lot like the important job of being sure the coffee pot is always full.

a woman is usually a person he has stand behind him during every press conference. She never speaks, just stands there looking nice and diverse.

He could just as easily use a life-size cardboard cutout.

Now they are doing the same thing in the Senate with Kelly Ayotte, but she is allowed to speak. Of course, she just parrots what John McCain and Lindsay Graham said before she steps up to the mic. It must really suck to be a republican woman in Congress. I wonder if anyone prepared them to just be props for their male counterparts.
