Michigan Group Launches Anti-Union Commercial Featuring Stock Footage Actors, Not Michiganders

Could they find any actual Michiganders if they tried?

--

Here’s Conway’s interesting find. Both the boy in the ad and the teacher in the classroom are parts of stock footage reels — meaning that they are actors, and not even actors that Michigan Freedom Fund paid to employ. Rather, they are simply bits of reel footage. In fact, the same flag-waving boy was used in an attack ad that was aired against Democrat Rep. Peter DeFazio — all the way out in Oregon.

Update: SAG-AFTRA Urges a Call to Action, Sign the Petition Against Making Michigan a So-Called “Right-to-Work” State

http://www.sagaftra.org/update-sag-aftra-urges-call-action-sign-petition-against-making-michigan-so-called-%E2%80%9Cright-work%E2%80%9D-stat

Yesterday the Michigan House and Senate passed bills that would make Michigan a so-called “right-to–work” state. There is still time to fight for union rights: Both the House and the Senate still have to vote on each other’s bills, and there is talk that such votes will occur in Lansing on Dec. 11. “Right-to-work” laws allow nonmembers to work under union contracts and enjoy all of the benefits of those union contracts without paying for the union’s services.

“SAG-AFTRA brings together two great American labor unions: Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Both were formed in the turmoil of the 1930s, with rich histories of fighting for and securing the strongest protections for media artists. Our members united to form the successor union in order to preserve those hard-won rights and to continue the struggle to extend and expand those protections into the 21st century and beyond."
