I'm trying to sell my old Canon video camera on Craigslist and I have gotten the same type of letter in various different forms from either a soldier about to be deployed or a relative with a son, daughter, niece, nephew, etc about to be deployed and for me to ship my item to them and I would get a check in the mail blah blah blah...
Just letting you all know to be aware of this.
Cheers!

(2,921 posts)one advertised an i3 core processor at a good price - went over there to check it out - turned out to be a Celeron which was a waste of a 20 mile road trip - one look at it, and I exited out after thanking her for her time and explained that I wasn't interested in buying a Celeron computer.
Ended up buying my BIL's smaller laptop at a bargain price - and I'm typing on it right now.

(35,015 posts)I saw ads for really nice cars being sold cheap; usually by someone in the military who had to ship out fast, or a family member, etc. If I paid the money, they'd ship the car to me.

(35,337 posts)twice. One person was in the Army heading for Iraq and said he would send $3500 to my Pay-pal account and a third party would pick up the bike. Another one was a merchant marine and was going out to sea and same thing he would send $3500 to my Pay-pal and a third party would pick it up. I have tried to sell several things on Craigslist and never got one legitimate offer yet.
