Arm-everybody types seem to think that having a gun means you will never be scared and freeze, shoot the wrong person in a crowd, or something like that.

2. Pearl High School - 1997
Sun Dec 16, 2012, 08:50 PM
Dec 2012

"Woodham drove his mother's car to Pearl High School. Wearing an orange jumpsuit and a trenchcoat,[1] he made no attempt to hide his rifle. When he entered the school, he fatally shot Lydia Kaye Dew and Christina Menefee, his former girlfriend. Pearl High School assistant band director, Jeff Cannon, was standing five feet away from Dew when she was fatally shot. Woodham went on to wound seven others before leaving, intending to drive off campus and conduct another shooting at the nearby Pearl Junior High School. However, assistant principal Joel Myrick had retrieved a .45 pistol from the glove compartment of his truck and subdued Woodham inside his mother's car. Then Myrick demanded "Why did you shoot my kids?" to which Woodham replied, "Life has wronged me, sir."[2]

3. Demonstrably factually incorrect.

At about 1 p.m. MST (20:00 UTC), 30 minutes after the 11 a.m. service had ended at New Life Church, Murray opened fire in the church parking lot shooting the Works family and Judy Purcell, 40. Murray then entered the building's main foyer where he shot Larry Bourbonnais, 59, hitting him in the forearm. At this point, Assam opened fire on Murray with her personally owned concealed weapon. Police say that after suffering multiple hits from Assam's gun, Murray fatally shot himself.

I'd also note that the shooter came armed to the teeth and brought over 1000 rounds of ammunition with him.

So..."not a single case", is incorrect, considering that there are two examples posted in this thread.

As fas ar the rest, schools and malls, you can count those out as potential examples for the most part, as schools are federally legislated as "gun free zones" and malls like the Omaha mall shooting and theaters like the CO incident were posted as "gun free".

Maybe you didn't read the part that said "Police say that after suffering multiple hits from Assam's gun, Murray fatally shot himself."

There is no doubt what so ever that the lady with the ccw STOPPED the shooter there.

Killed? No.

Stopped? Yes.

but I'll entertain discussion to the contrary:

What do you think the shooter at the new life church would have done with the thousand rounds he had on his person when he was shot, had she not been there to shoot him?

I'll wait right here.

Heres a hint:

"I'm coming for EVERYONE soon and I WILL be armed to the @#%$ teeth and I WILL shoot to kill. Feel no remorse, no sense of shame, I don't care if I live or die in the shoot-out. All I want to do is kill and injure as many of you as I can especially Christians who are to blame for most of the problems in the world."

"And your "gun free zone" NRA talking point bullshit outs you for what you are."

Uh...Ok?

Saying that gun free zones can safely be assumed to be places where the law abiding won't be in possession of a gun, and therefore really can't be used as examples of places where armed civilians failed to stop a massacre, is a nra talking point now?

Amazing how common sense gets labelled as a "nra talking point" around here.

the civilian hit shooter with his car first. So I guess that doesn't count either.

9. Gun carrying man ends stabbing spree at Salt Lake grocery store
Mon Dec 17, 2012, 12:05 AM
Dec 2012
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A citizen with a gun stopped a knife wielding man as he began stabbing people Thursday evening at the downtown Salt Lake City Smith's store.

Police say the suspect purchased a knife inside the store and then turned it into a weapon. Smith's employee Dorothy Espinoza says, "He pulled it out and stood outside the Smiths in the foyer. And just started stabbing people and yelling you killed my people. You killed my people."

Espinoza says, the knife wielding man seriously injured two people. "There is blood all over. One got stabbed in the stomach and got stabbed in the head and held his hands and got stabbed all over the arms."

Then, before the suspect could find another victim - a citizen with a gun stopped the madness. "A guy pulled gun on him and told him to drop his weapon or he would shoot him. So, he dropped his weapon and the people from Smith's grabbed him."

By the time officers arrived the suspect had been subdued by employees and shoppers. Police had high praise for gun carrying man who ended the hysteria. Lt. Brian Purvis said, "This was a volatile situation that could have gotten worse. We can only assume from what we saw it could have gotten worse. He was definitely in the right place at the right time."
