Teachers & students are constantly getting into confrontations. Putting a gun in every teachers hand?

Now that is just asking for trouble. Even if the teacher knows what he or she is doing, many angry kids could overpower the teacher and get the gun. Bam! Dead teacher and who knows who else would be dead. Or maybe the kid gets into the teachers face and they start to fight and the teacher goes for his or her weapon.

Guns in teachers hands has to be the dumbest idea I have ever heard!

A trained security guard is a different story.

When I worked with Emotionally Disturbed 5th grade boys, we locked up sharp scissors, staple removers, even regular pens and pencils. Nothing that could be a potential weapon was allowed accessable. They did their lessions with crayons. One boy at 11 years old tried to stab his Grandma with a kitchen knife. One of the Aides forgot to lock and put away her pen, never mind a GUN. This boy stabbed her with that pen. Ok, he couldn't kill her with it, but he did hurt her with it.

Carrying guns in a class like THIS? ASKING for a disaster.

No need to waste your time on them. Invest your time talking to more reasonable people.
