They said when they found the killer's mother in her bed shot and killed. All the computer's in the house were smashed. Hmm?

You would have be careful that the hard drive is erased (destroyed), and then there is your online profile (email, blogs, facebooks, tweets).

This morning, they were bemoaning social network and media who were pushing false information, so I would wait until things come from them.
