He moved me to new tears, our President did. Careful. Mournful. Brilliant. He walked the line.

Unfortunately it's a perilous walk because of those who think him a threat to their guns. They are representative of precious freedom to some, fake though it is to me.
He needs to walk that line, rather than carry a big stick and slam it down, because there are so many out there with arsenals and attitude who could "go off" tomorrow.
Prevention means walking on eggshells and on tiptoes in this country armed to the teeth.

I believe the words about taking action are long in coming, and very welcome to the ears of the country's majority.
I believe action will follow.
I believe the groundswell of anti NRA sentiment has begun, and their power has lessened in the last few days.
I believe those who find the NRA so threatening are beginning to see the hollow legs of their strength.

I have a friend who just stopped by. A woman in with 4 children, 14/13/11/10
She said that she overheard her 13 yr old son saying that the kids in his school are taking knives from the kitchen along in their backpacks.
That she hated her 10 year old knew this and felt he was not safe in his school.
That she hated having to discuss these fears and try to diffuse them. That the children don't tell the parents about the defensive weapons they pack.
I bet this is a nation wide problem, especially after the beating of non stop coverage on all TV channels. It does not allow parents to be in control of what the children know and can handle, or how it is presented.

All these are the fine lines our President walked tonight.
I'm proud, and I'm watching. He has power, intelligent people at his side, and he has money. He has made a pledge of sorts, and I want to see some changes made immediately.

Feet to the fire.
It's burning.

From what I'm reading members are beginning to wake up to that the message they are fed is self serving and wrong for human kind and right only for their objectives.
Each mass shooting has been like a seed thrown under the snow, and they are beginning to sprout and take over the yard.
They are like a air mattress losing air from many tiny pricks that nothing or nobody can re-inflate.

considering he is our twice elected President with a mind set hopefully and decidedly expressed against weapons of mass destruction in the hands of any ordinary people

and who has the power and the intellect and the ability to rally all that (including money)
now that the country has sat up and finally realized a need for change is upon us, and he has been RE-ELECTED

the action expected is hopefully the action that is in his hands to mobilize.
And as I've said, I am watching and hoping and praying it will begin soon. It can't be undone overnight what has allowed our populace to become armed and dangerous.
