Top Ten Conservative Idiots (New Edition #2)

Last edited Mon Dec 17, 2012, 01:25 AM - Edit history (1)

This week I certainly hope you brought your parachute; looks like were heading off the cliff in to a sea of craziness. Porter Stansberry sure knows how to throw shade, Rick Snyder is making his little lame ducks work their butts off, and the NRA goes silent unfortunately all the other gun nuts are not.

This week Porter Stansberry announced that he believes due to the success of shale gas mining in the United States President Obama will subvert the U.S. Constitution and seek a third term.

“His administration will be extended into a third or even a fourth term, making him one of the most powerful presidents in American history, rivaling FDR”

Yes this IS the same Porter Stansberry who advertises on the top of Drudge, the same Stansberry with his crazy prediction videos, and the same Stansberry who was fined by the SEC for 1.5 million dollars. In their judgement the SEC stated

“Stansberry's conduct undoubtedly involved deliberate fraud, making statements that he knew to be false."

Sounds like he does not like “being dictated by fact checkers”. Even the right wing is not happy with his loony predictions. The Heritage Foundation’s Hans van Spakovsky told Mother Jones:

“I don’t like Obama's policies, but even I don’t believe he would try to get a third term in direct contravention of the 22nd Amendment.”

Just as a bonus and I don’t really recommend visiting the Stansberry website but there is this little gem on their so called investment strategy “At Stansberry & Associates, we believe that the most important investing rule you can follow is to "cut your losers, and let your winners ride." That way, you’re never stuck with a worthless investment… and the sky’s the limit on the ones that are doing well.” Good luck to the 47%, eh?

One of the biggest idiots this week is Steven Crowder, all this riding on the waves of Michigan governor, Rick Snyder (don’t worry I’ll get to him). Crowder who is a writer and Fox News contributor, aired a video of a physical altercation he had with some opponents of Michigan’s right to work legislation.

Crowder began to argue with the protestors as a tent pitched by American’s for Prosperity was torn down by “union-thugs” with no care for the women and children in the tent at the time.

Regardless of if the punch was deserved or not, Crowder certainly has an odd way of going about seeking justice for it which is confusing the Michigan police. Even as Crowder’s story of the tent collapse, as well as the punch " target="_blank">begin to unravel, Crowder has continued to turn the video into a national “union thuggery” story.

The Michigan State police say it best when they say:

“If somebody broke into your house, wouldn’t you immediately report it to the police? If someone assaulted you or your family member wouldn’t you report it immediately to the police? Well, why wouldn’t you, unless there’s a personal agenda there.”

Again that Fox news seems to really know how to put on a “good” show.

Mitch McConnell is losing the popularity contest this week; hopefully one can reason that he will also lose the election in two years. PPP polling published some new polls which rate McConnell’s approval at 37%, which makes him the LEAST popular senator in the nation.

Apparently not happy with the polling data his campaign manager Jesse Benton explained away the horrible approval rating by noting PPP’s bias

“On the first day of Republican Campaign Manager School, they teach us to ignore PPP polls. You see, PPP is a partisan Democrat polling firm, and they make their living giving the Democrat Party numbers they want to see.”

Gee I bet McConnell could unskew that poll. But wait didn’t PPP have the best year of all pollster’s in the country? PPP pollster Tom Jenson came back swinging:

“I think one of the biggest lessons of the 2012 campaign was that when Republicans are attacking polls it's a sure sign that they're losing. GOP campaigns all over the country made these kinds of claims about us this year and we ended up calling every state in the Presidential race and Senate race we polled correctly. Nate Silver found that to the extent there was any bias in our polling, it was actually pro-Republican.”

That’s it I am moving to Kentucky and I am going take this guy on in 2014. I would have a better approval rating than that… wait I’d have to move to Kentucky?

Oh…

“Right-to-Work” is the biggest GOP misnomer, taking a page right out of Orwell’s 1984. In one of the biggest ungood moves ever Michigan unions happened when Michigan became the 24th state in the union to enact a “Right-to-Work” law.

“Right-to-Work” makes it onto the list even thought it’s not a person, it’s a conservative idea, which is idiotic and will cost us for years to come. As more and more states enact right to work laws we lose many years of progress in creating healthy workplace conditions and fair pay.

“Right-to-Work” laws allow employees in union workplaces to opt out of paying dues and fees, but guess what, they still enjoy all of the workplace benefits enacted by previous union actions. And for those of us in the younger generations who don’t know here is a quick list of things unions gave us:

1. Unions gave us the weekend. (Some of us… I should join a union… dang retail career)
2. Unions gave us fair wages and income equality.
3. Unions help end child labor.
4. Unions won employees based helath coverage.
5. Unions gave us the Family and Medical Leave Act.

Certainly seems like the right-wing bureau of MiniPlenty had their hands full this week. Make sure you check out Amazon and buy “The Jungle” by Sinclair before it’s pulled from the shelves and burnt.

To enact Michigan’s sudden right to work law governor Rick Synder had to act fast. The legislation was pushed through GOP led lame duck legislature without any hearings, effectively blindsiding the unions. For years Rick Snyder has said that he was not interested in passing a right to work law, but then in a sudden change of heart he acted to sign the bills.

Why did he switch? He is on the record repeatedly being against such legislation. Well it appears it might not be such a big surprise listen to what Synder has to say in this YouTube interview from 2010

Either way it’s done, the only way to combat this is through repeal, and through electing leaders who support unions and the benefits they have given our workers.

This week the country was shocked by yet another national gun tragedy. And yes while the shooter is the one responsible, there is no way he could have possibly have harmed as many people as he did without… wait for it… a gun. I am not mind you anti gun but I certainly am anti-huge ass clips, and anti assault rifles. I grew up in VT and I have yet to meet a deer it took an AK47 to take down. And no I don’t have a pink gun, heck I don’t even have any guns (at least I know how many I have).

The National Rifle Association did they only thing they could do during this tragedy, they pulled down their Facebook page and made sure no one could comment on their wall. What’s ironic is just the day before the NRA celebrated their total “likes” surpassing 1.7 million.

The NRA also silenced their Twitter feed which is usually chock full of pro-gun tweets, and great hunting accoutrement’s such as

Glad someone at the NRA got the hint… now if only disappearing on Facebook was the same as disappearing in real life. Maybe that will be the gift on the 12th day of NRA”ness”… oh please Santa?

Oye... I'd put the little barfing smiley here but I am trying to keep this thread classy... oh what the hell

In one more SAD attempt to "educate"... hate on the evil ways of the Jews or the Homosexuals (you pick!) Fred Phelps will be driving his “church” out to Newtown, Connecticut to protest at the funerals of the children killed during Friday’s deadly rampage.

Well Anonymous seems to have caught wind of the planned action and took their own action by posting the names and contact information, including phone numbers, and emails for all of the Westboro Baptsist Chruch members on the internet. Well hopefully they will get the hint and not mess with Anonymous (I’m scared shitless of them)…

“We will not allow you to corrupt the minds of America with your seeds of hatred. We will not allow you to inspire aggression to the social factions ,which you deem inferior. We will render you obsolete. We will destroy you. We are coming.”

http://vimeo.com/55671721

To read more about the ongoing battle between Anonymous and The Westboro Baptist Church check out this link. And seriously I did not even want to watch that video because I bet Anonymous could get me just from watching it... if you are Anonymous I respect you SO much.

Another gun violence massacre? Well according to Larry Pratt, Executive Director of Gun Owners of America, that means we as Americans are not packing enough heat. Larry is one of… unfortunately many people who believe if guns were more easily available, and people felt more comfortable carrying them tragedies would happen less often.

"Gun control supporters have the blood of little children on their hands. Federal and state laws combined to insure that no teacher, no administrator, no adult had a gun at the Newtown school where the children were murdered. This tragedy underscores the urgency of getting rid of gun bans in school zones. The only thing accomplished by gun free zones is to insure that mass murderers can slay more before they are finally confronted by someone with a gun."

I’d like to remind Larry that these were guns owned by someone who used to work in a school, which caused all the carnage. But just in case you weren’t pissed off enough at Michigan legislature for all the right to work crap here is one more law you might want to read up on. Yes that’s right on Thursday December 14th Michigan passed a law during the lame duck session which allows pistols in schools and many other gun free zones all with your handy concealed weapon permit. Maybe Michigan should re-think their motto "If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you.”

What did you think?
What can I do differently next time?
If you are thinking "OMG I need the key"... yah me two any ideas on how to get it back?

And finally if you liked this post please DU Rec it and send me PM’s over the next week with ideas for next week. Over the next three weeks I will shoot for a Monday publish time, no guarantee on the time. And please kick this thread or comment on it so more people can give me feedback!

I assume these are in chronological order, not idiological order, correct? Cause 6,7,8 would top the idiological list.
