So, the AWB never sunset in Connecticut?

I just read that tonight, and my brief Google search appears to bear that out. The state's gun laws kept the 1994 AWB on the books there even after the federal law sunset in 2004.

Yet the mom was still able to legally buy and register an AR-15, and the son was still able to get a hold of it and kill dozens of kids.

What this implies to me is that, if we want to enforce new gun control measures in this country, they'll have to be MUCH more than a simple renewal of the old AWB, because it was pretty much useless here.

CA is the most notable. They are all pretty porous. Google "Bullet Button" for an example.

The pols who wrote the Fed AWB were dumb about the technology and it shows. Many still are and that ignorance is also deeply entrenched in some at DU unfortunately. Learning about the technology would make for much better discussion and a chance for real progress.

There is a ban still in place on feature counts and some weapons are banned by name , make , style and caliber

The only hand gun law in CT pertains to the weight of the handgun , not make or model or caliber.

I can't remember off hand exactly but it can't weigh more than 50 or 55 ounces
and be mag fed and semi auto.
