I tried researching this subject on the internet search engines, and found several sources, I don't know if they are legitimate sites or not, but some estimates are 20,000 children.
I know war is war and kindergarten is kindergarten, but let's not forget our gun culture, here on our own soil, or in these obscene, endless wars.

(1,474 posts)Not that many people are willing to notice, but America is still the Worlds number one exporter of despair, death, and destruction.
Unfortunately, history will define us in many unflattering ways, such as, we are an ideologically divided right wing authoritarian culture, i.e. a mass of blind to self hypocrites, drowning in double standards, and the blood of innocence.
Collectively, we are quick to weep for our own, but even quicker to look the other way when our favorite politicians (of whom we are not to question under the penalty of censor, and disdain) prop up and support blood thirsty tyrants, while financing the slaughter of innocent people, including children, living in other Countries.
Like I said, Not that many people are willing to notice".

(37,364 posts)And this cowboy gunslinger Wild West mentality was put in place following 9/11. Let's face it. This nation was traumatized by that event and allowed an amoral man and his sidekick and the party they headed to establish a framework in law that didn't exist before. It became permissible to subvert morality and ethics and use a big hammer of war to solve all international problems. Domestically, distrust and fear were fomented to the extent that some homes have become armed fortresses. There was money to be had by all willing to step in and fill the void created by fear and mistrust. And as that money was sucked up by greedy people, one by one our public institutions have been systematically dismantled. We are a disorganized people who must work our way back to the point we have a solid set of moral principles to operate from--and I'm not talking religious clap trap or family values in the sense that the right wing has marketed it for the past 30 years.

But our blood is sacred...1 death of ours is worth a million of theirs.
