Poll request: Can someone ask the board a four-choice question about video games and violence?

1.) I play violent video games and I think they DO contribute to increased violence.
2.) I play violent video games and I think they DO NOT contribute to increased violence.
3.) I do not play violent video games and I think they DO contribute to increased violence.
4.) I do not play violent video games and I think they DO NOT contribute to increased violence.

I just want to get a sense of the "lay of the land" so to speak here at DU.

TIA.

You can do this by changing your topic in to a poll. Although I suggest adding these two options.

--I play violent video games and I think they have a Marginal contribution towards increased violence.
--I do not play violent video games and I think they have a Marginal contribution towards increased violence.

Reason being, is that even if there were through increased agression, most don't really act upon it. The ones that do, would most likely do so with or without this external stimuli, though it may give them more tools and ideas on how to do something.

Either way, I think this increased craziness should ebb after 21st. I don't know how long it will take, but for some reason or another, I have a feeling that some people's belief in the end of the world contributes to crazy behavior.

I have played violent video games. Sometimes they look fun so I might try it. But I have rarely completed a violent video game. I try it don't like it and try something else.

But here is the real kicker. I don't play video games enough to be considered anything more then at best a casual player of video games. I tend to avoid the violent ones and it is a rare occasion that I might actually play a video game in the first place. I like pogo and playing word whomp I guess thats violent I am smashing the head of some underground mammal with a club when I make words. Pooptit is fun. I love solitaire and chess.

I think you need an I play or don't play most of the time, not so much, because I don't fit in your poll as it currently stands.

I play "Age of Empires: Age of Kings." Is that violent?

Space Invaders? Red Baron? Sonic the Hedgehog? (Whenever I play, he's suicidal and keeps falling off of ledges to his death.)

Back to the Age of Kings thing. It's a game about castles and knights and stuff, but with one cheat I can get my own Corvette with a machine gun. Seriously!
