My letter to my Congressman

Dear Congressman Owen,

Enough. I am a teacher, and I have had enough of the NRA and the gun lobbyists being more important that the safety of my students. We need a total ban on any automatic and semi-automatic weapons. Period. And handguns, except in very unusual circumstances. How many more 6 year olds will die while we allow these weapons in our country?

Yes, we have the Second Amendment. So allows muskets. That was the "arms" when the Second Amendment was written. Seriously, allow hunting rifles. That is it. Enough.

Regards,
Adigal

I might have included, instead of your muskets reference, was that the first part of the second amendment is often ignored. Second Amendment privileges should apply to those in a well regulated militia. That was the intent of the amendment, and it has been misconstrued to mean that anyone should have the right to carry any form of arms they desire.

It is ridiculous to think the Second Amendment can be applied to the weapons we have today.
