General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI've haven't said anything about gun-control on this site until now but the elephant...
...in the room is getting to big to ignore.
As an Aussie and an American, the reason for implementing strict gun control is simple.
We-can't-handle-it
We, as a nation have proven time and time again that we're like school kids.
You kids can chew gum but don't leave it around so somebody can track the stuff all over the school.
Next day>>>The kids stick it under their desks, throw it on the floor and consequently make it a big mess thing.
Fine..since some of you are assholes...no gum.
You can bring your phones to school but don't use them during class.
Next day>>> I see some of you simply can't leave your phones alone and HAVE to text during class.
Fine...Phones stay home..Period.
Ok...You adults can have your guns and even assault weapons, but use them responsibly.
Next day>Bang
Fine...you want to be treated like adults put won't implement measures to keep nuts and trouble people from killing others through means like mental services and intervention ?.. then your privileges are gone..
Because...once again...
We-can't-handle-it
When you Fucking grow up...come back and see me.

(12,471 posts)Too many of us REFUSE to grow up.
Too many are self-obsessed.
They suffer from what I call pathological narcissism. Everything revolves around them.
When those people wake up from their coma, there may be hope.

(22,920 posts)I realize pro-gun people include liberals, conservatives and everything in between. I haven't seen any statistics, but I dare say most NRA members would identify as conservative or libertarian.
I mean, any organization that has Ted Nugent on the Board...how could a liberal support it in good conscience?
But I digress...
Right-wing conservatives are the ones who are always saying boo-hoo, life isn't fair when talking about income inequality and all other types of inequality and injustice.
A reasonable gun control approach may end up not being fair to some, but too bad.
I agree with you, BlueJazz.

(373 posts)I agree with you, but I think there was a time when our society wasn't so immature and messed up. Perhaps we should stop allowing the immature moronic sociopaths to run everything.
Maybe we should start by kicking their leaders of hate and lies like Limbaugh off of our public airwaves. We certainly should not be using our tax dollars to pay him to be on armed forces radio.
We can be more than what we are. We don't have to sacrifice our freedom or become authoritarians to behave as a rational society.
