It's being suggested vocally here at DU, and I for one think it's a disgusting proposition.

Further expose my children to your gun culture in order for the gun owners to keep their guns.

Nope.

I guess I just don't see the horror, but even in a country with no legal civilian guns, people will have guns and use them to kill people, so there will need to be some armed police officers.

I think they were put there as part of the drug war and they probably will never leave. Let the kids get used to armed authorities. I am horrified at what is happening and what is tolerated as acceptable these days. Get off my lawn probably will fly out of my mouth any day now.

As I have posted before, the "solution" that will be found will involve the three P's; police, prayer and prisons.

Guns themselves are the problem. More guns are not the answer.
Paying people to carry guns are not the answer, either, as this will just attract the gun nutz. Those that don't make the grade as law enforcement, will become "Security", as in 'rent-a-cops". Anything to be able to take their loved ones to work.

We need to find a workable solution to prevent shootings in gun free zones such as schools.

Armed security might prove a deterrent to an individual planning such a massacre. What we have attempted to do to stop such incidents has failed.

Many here have suggested banning and confiscating firearms or types of firearms. In our current political environment a law banning guns is unlikely to pass and the Supreme Court would throw it out. The 2nd Amendment could be repealed but that too is more than likely politically impossible.
