I believe all this talk from our "friends" across the aisle about backing some form of gun . . . . .

. . . . control is just so much bullshit. They will make a big, loud fuss over some arcane bullshit "regulation" but will NEVER give up guns or control the flow of even the very least of them.

We will find little common ground with them.

He might as well be across the aisle, as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, this is encouraging, coming from him:

"I don't know anyone in the sporting or hunting arena that goes out with an assault rifle," Manchin said. "I don't know anyone that needs 30 rounds to go hunting. I mean these are things that need to be talked about."

let's just say he was a republican, he is a senator.

Though raging assholes, republican senators can possibly act like a human being one in every 100 or so chances.

Not a chance, none, zip, nada, that THIS Republican House passes ANY kind of gun legislation.

None.

protect under our Constitution.

What common ground excluding ban do you propose?

That is highly debatable. There are countervailing, serious opinions as to what it means.

And well regulated at that, in Federalist 29. He did not talk of individuals.

But hey, it matters little what the context of the second actually is...by the way those NRA talking points are showing.

Bill Bennett can be a good barometer for how it will go. He was nearly apoplectic sitting on that very sincere panel that included Senator Feinstein, David Brooks, Gov. who was head of DHS, etc. Bennett was nearly apoplectic at the comments of the others who were sincerely looking for answers and awareness.

Bennett could barely contain his contempt and rage.

It's worth watching to see the interpersonal dynamics.

Oh, and he offered to sit on Obama's as yet non-existant commission on guns.

THIS republican House lets ANY form of gun control pass ...

Never, not going to happen.
