Berkeley Commission Wants City Declared a "No Drone Zone"

Berkeley Commission Wants City Declared a "No Drone Zone"

Tuesday, the Berkeley Peace and Justice Commission will propose the city ban the purchase or use of unmanned aircraft systems, and declare airspace off-limits to surveillance craft accordingly.

Commission member Bob Meola says he's seen what drones have done in the Middle East and wants no part of it. "They're the murder weapon of choice for the White House," he tells KGO's Sherry Brown.

But what about drones for search and rescue purposes?

"The technology has not been perfected. Stick to helicopters."

'U.S. airspace,' not technically Berkley's.

We can afford being less hightech. Less machines, more people.

Now, just get ready to fight the 'don't tax me bro' crowd, even though lowtech will be cheaper.

Stop the direct line between the manufacturers of all this stuff and the tax payer's pockets.
