Michael Moore tweet proving how insane the idea is that arming MORE people is the solution of the problem... also fascinating insight into the fact that sarcasm is not understood by many...

Still reading the 'if the principal at the school was armed' posts, etc. here at DU.

The meme is strong but wrong!
Even well-armed, trained police men on duty get ambushed and killed - what chance does a civilian have, not matter what they own?
The answer is not arming ourselves to the teeth to make war on each other. It's working toward a civil society where killing won't ever be an option, or something to be lauded.
That will come from thoughtul debate on what is the real reason people are demanding unlimited access to ever great and more powerful weapons in an arms race.
I contend that those who push this intend to wage a second civil war - at least that's what they say they want to do. Failing that, they may want to eliminate the people from the population they've been taught to hate by their conspiracy pundits.
Sounds crazy, huh. Just check the websites and listen to the radio. And it's the reason the Secret Service is overwhelmed.
