Ugh. As I begin to settle in for the evening with my wife and (minor) daughter...

It has been brought to my attention that a local activist is posting my family vacation pictures around the internet and various community activist Facebook groups after a squabble we had in regards to the shooting in Webster today...

How did he get pictures of your family on vacation? OneTenthofOnePercent Dec 2012 #8
If he got the pics off the internet, they are not private. They are in the public domain. Honeycombe8 Dec 2012 #10
Good luck trying that defense in a court of law. (nt) Posteritatis Dec 2012 #14
Ummmm....that's where I got it. An article about suing for royalties from pics taken off internet. Honeycombe8 Dec 2012 #15
The decision was bullshit, or you misread it, or both. That is not how "public domain" works. (nt) Posteritatis Dec 2012 #17

Companies can even use them in commercials without paying you royalties.

They are not private, if they're on the internet, decision was. Which I guess is pretty obvious. (the exception was if you are a celebrity)

People should be aware of these things. Nothing you put on the internet is private.

I'd contact Facebook and tell them this jerk is posting YOUR pictures on his page, and you want them removed.

The words "minor children" will resonate with the FB censors, I'm betting.

Do not FUME, though.

You FUME, he wins.

Enjoy your Christmas cheer, enjoy your Christmas pudding, enjoy your family and friends.

Save revenge (a dish best served cold) for another day--don't let this jerk ruin your evening. If he does that, he wins.

this thread. It certainly demonstrates a lack of humanity on the part of a certain element here on DU. They need to take their filth to RW websites, not here.

send a DMCA notice to each ISP. This should quickly solve the problem on each server.

but sheesh . . . this IS creepy as hell as well as an invasion of your privacy .. .you are NOT a public figure and this is just too stalkerish. I'd avoid that activist from now on as much as I could.
