The bad luck at our house continues

It started here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022067605

Tonight on the way home after work I was in a fender bender. The other car forgot they were on a way way street. They turned (improper turn) into me. I T-boned them. I have a sore shoulder from the seat belt. I wasn't going fast enough to open the air bag. They all 3 seemed fine. I didn't have direct contact with them.

OnStar was wonderful. The first thing they asked is if I was ok? They got me calmed down. They made sure I felt safe. Is the car leaking gas? Could I run the heat in the cold temps? They took care of the OnStar tow. They stayed on the line until the police arrived. Well trained professionals. They followed up to make sure I was ok.

My car isn't drivable. I'll be in a renter for at least a couple weeks.

I'm hoping for a better New Year.

OS

glad you weren't hurt worse. It's great OnStar was so helpful. It sounds like things haven't been going great so here's hoping things start looking up for you.

I'm not much for praying, but I'll say a prayer for you......it can't hurt, right?

Take care and let's hope 2013 is better.

After a string of bad jobs, my car getting broken into (thank God my mom finally fixed my window, it was out for almost 6 months), and I'm going to file bankruptcy this week. But I am optimistic. I think this year is going to be great for a lot of people. Good luck to you and Happy Holidays.

Get yourself to a doctor—chiropractor, if you use them. You'll be sore for a while, and remember ice is your friend.

Make sure you deal with the insurance people as well.

... I hope you're OK. If you have bruises, you might want to go to your family doctor tomorrow and get checked out. Yeah, you're going to really feel it tomorrow. It's not 2013 yet, so don't count your ugly ducklings before they hatch. After this accident, you have nowhere to look but up, right?
Will keep you in my thoughts...

Trouble seems to love swooping in at the most inopportune times. But trouble is a lot different than tragedy, which was sitting right there on the same branch.

I read the above and my first thought was, you got lucky, man! Four people and four tons of metal just collided, and you all walked away--on Christmas day, no less!--with your lives and futures relatively intact.

If you don't consider yourself lucky, well, I consider my own self lucky, as I've enjoyed reading you for a long time now and hope to continue doing so for years to come.

Happy holidays to you!

Edit: Nadin above is absolutely right, too: the second day after a crash can be the worst. Maybe it's because of the adrenaline that raises your tolerance to pain wears off, I don't really know. But I have survived... wait, I have to think about it... at least four accidents in which the car I was in was totaled, and I and everyone involved walked away every time, and I hurt like hell the next day, every time. I am a very, very lucky guy. But also stupid.

the road a couple months back. My neck hasn't been quite right since but if you saw that car, you'd figure us as goners or at least in traction.

Gotta hate going through that kind of thing, it is a but traumatizing even with just bumps and bruises.

To a better 2013!

We have a granddaughter staying with us for the next couple days. She came in the door last night and came straight over to see how I was. She was worried when she heard I was in an accident.

Anyway I count myself as being lucky it wasn't any more of an accident than it was.
