Calling out all you "No Surprise Here" Trolls.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by REP (a host of the General Discussion forum).

I swear, nearly every DU string I see, no matter what subject, or how
well-documented, novel, horrid or definitive the news report is; their
is generally at least one reply going something like this:

"Oh, and you are SURPRISED by this?" <-inferred sub-text: "you
are a naive boneheaded shit-for-brains to consider this real news!"

This kind of reply does several things in one stroke:
1) Lays claim to possessing a superior "above the fray" perspective,
so superior as to insult you without any consequences.
2) Dismisses the actual information posted as trivial, not worth
wasting your time reading, and "old" information,
3) Attempts to redirect the attention of the reader elsewhere,
ANYwhere, except to continue reading the OP with any real interest.

Personally I'm sick of seeing these annoying replies, especially when it's
an all-too-obvious attempt to trash a thread, while pretending to be
participating in an intelligent discussion about the OP.

How about we start the New Year by naming this aberrational dumbing
down trollish behavior, and ignoring it at least, if not flagging it.

and you're SURPRISED by the "no surprise here" trolls???

I'm kidding, of course

I agree 100% with your post. Sometimes a "no surprise" troll will take it to the next level and imply that the person who wrote the OP is a troll who's only pretending to oppose the subject they've brought up

Corruption and venality are a commonplace occurrence in human society, why is it surprising that they should happen in American society?
