Want to Know Which GOP Lawmakers Tried to Destroy Construction Wages Over Christmas?

While the bulk of us were soaking up the family vibes and licking our anti-worker wounds from a hard-fought 2012 go of it, a select group of lawmakers were doubling down on efforts to undermine the middle class.

Did I say select group? I meant Republicans. See, on December 28th, the Senate — led by Kentucky conservative Rand Paul — attempted to rid the nation of the pesky wage protections contained in the Davis-Bacon Act. For the second time in as many years, only Republicans voted for the measure. Via Irregular Times:

Led by Senator Rand Paul, an all-Republican group of Senators voted in favor of Senate Amendment 3376, which again would have prohibited any enforcement of Davis-Bacon wage standards for American construction workers on federal projects. Rand Paul’s amendment would have pushed wages for full-time construction workers even farther below poverty levels — and every one of the 42 Senators who voted for the amendment yesterday was a Republican. Under this ongoing Republican plan, construction corporations reap extra profit while construction workers are ground into the dust. Fortunately, the Republican plan to cut construction wages even further below poverty level failed.

They complain (and falsely claim) that so many people simply aren't willing to work, but here we have a group of people who work very, very hard - construction is hard work - and they vote to reduce the wages of those hard workers. Their actions prove that their propaganda speech is false. They just don't want the have-nots to have anything at all.

Hey Pat, just exactly what are you doing to earn your salary in the Senate? You certainly aren't working for the people of Pennsylvania. For that matter, what have you done good for any Americans?
