So I'm just fixing to watch Cenk on Current...

only to discover Time Warner has unceremoniously pulled the channel from their lineup, presumably because of their recent purchase by Al Jazeera. Farewell, Current...we hardly knew ye.

and find out that it can cost a LOT of money BEFORE you see a "break-even", let alone a profit situation.

Given a chance to sell , many do..

It's very hard to start a broadcasting entity these days...or to even maintain one.

Look at all the wonderful channels that have been absorbed/ruined when buyers (big networks) have come along:
TLC, A & E, History, Weather Channel, Discovery, Animal Planet, Nat'l Geo immediately come to mind.

Current was never going to amount to more than a small niche channel, and it was probably costing more than Al & his investors wanted to keep spending.

Oprah is a prime example. I remember when she started her channel.. It was going to be uplifting, NEW programming, and in very short order she had to resort to the same old stale, multi-re-run stuff that all the other independent channels run along with the incessant infomercial/"watch-how-20 yr-old- crimes-were-solved" schlocky stuff...

don't know anything more than that. I suspect they received more than a few angry phone calls.

"We are keeping an open mind and as the service develops, we will evaluate whether it makes sense, for our customers, to launch the network," Time Warner Cable said in a statement first reported by The New York Times.

7. I have Dish which carries Current and would recommend it over cable

Plus it costs less. They had a problem months ago with amc but finally came to resolution. Direct also has Current but Murdoch owns part of it so I would not use them as my satellite provider. I had cable before and satellite is way better and cheaper. Landlords usually will allow you to install the small dish.

You may need to wade through a few pop up ads. Don't worry... you are not missing a plug in and can watch the video. No need to click on any of these links. Just close them when you can (some have timers).

I get all excited about seeing Cenk finally without dealing with YouTube... and I get "treated" with this image

Damn you and damn Cenk Uyger.

Now quiet, you. Elliot's on.
