You can't fix stupid

Matt Yglesias has a lengthier takedown of this idiotic Chyron, but the short version is this: Fox News apparently hasn't figured out that the only reason coins and currency are worth anything is because we say they're worth something. And it's that way because it's convenient for us, and it makes life better.

Who knows, maybe the idiots at Fox would be happier if a nickel were always made up of a nickel's worth of copper and nickel. Or if a $20 bill was always 20 times bigger than a $1 bill. But in the extremely unlikely event that Republicans follow through on their bluff to send the nation into default, one thing I'm sure of is that it won't take long for them to start thinking the trillion dollar coin sounds like a pretty damn good idea, at least until Congress regains its collective mind.

I suspect that most of them are not that stupid, but like Dubya, they think WE are.
