"Authorities found multiple weapons at the scene of the crime, some manufactured by Ratliff himself, WSBTV reports. Investigators have not identified a motive."

The guy lived in Carnesville, Ga.

a conspiracy theory that President Obama had the whole thing "set up" so he could take away everyone's guns.

(I knew stories like these were going to pop up.)

Ratliff was known as an outspoken gun advocate. In a message posted to Twitter on Aug 11, 2012, he wrote: "I went to the movies with my pistol in my pocket the whole time I was praying that somebody would try to pull a Batman!"

Er...that was the Joker, not Batman. Batman was the good guy. How come they can never even get the basics right?

Anywho...RIP gun lover.

I feel sorry for the family he leaves behind.

But, this story is weird. He wanted someone to open fire in a theater. That's just nuts. And the press release says he passed away. Very odd, he was murdered he didn't just pass away. They really should be more honest about what happened. I doubt we will ever get the full story on this.

My gun nut brother has fantasies of public shootouts. If I walk into a store with him, he says that if the store gets robbed he will yell, "Everybody down" as he pulls out his gun. He says if I hear him yell that, I am to lie flat out on the floor. He claims that he has 'conditioned himself to automatically go into condition orange' as he calls it. He says, "condition orange,' is a reflexive state that kicks in during dangerous situations. He says the bullets will start flying. He has warped Rambo fantasies. He has all these stupid magazines and books that he gets this stuff from.

It's pathetic listening to him talk about it. He doesn't understand how stupid it sounds to a rational person.

Ironically he was always the 'smart one' in the family. He was brilliantly smart up until he turned into a Republican. Once that happened, his common sense began to downward spiral and has been ever since.

the bravado of carrying a gun in a movie theatre still did not save him from a gun

carrying a gun means nothing if someone else accurately shoots first. people don't have 360 degree vision

He could have been selling to someone and something went wrong. Or shooting with someone, a bullet happened to hit his head and the person ran off. How do they know it's not a suicide or a gun accident?

He was obviously referencing the Colorado theater shooting during the screening of Batman. How can someone hope for that? He was an asshole.
