Great Keynes Quote...

... which I've adopted as my new sigline:

Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone.

— John Maynard Keynes, British economist (1883-1946)

Do you suppose it applies to all people, including politicians and bureaucrats, or are the lucky few graced with altruism?

are most willing to use people and the environment for their own personal gain without concern for the welfare of either. We have been taken over by the mercantile class whose only goal in life is to enrich themselves regardless of consequences.

Even their concept of minimum wage is the prevailing order. Rather than it being about meeting the basic and realistic needs of living, it's about how little they can get away with paying people.

I long for the day when Keynesian economics is the general rule for how governments and businesses determine policies. But then a lot of people who are rich today would not be rich operating in such a system. I'm okay with that.
