I remember the rhetoric our leaders used against Nicaragua and the Sandinistas in the 80's.

And a lot of it is being repeated now, towards Venezuela, even by many so-called "liberals".

Given that the result of the demonization of the Sandinistas, the blockade on the Nicaraguan economy and the continued funding of the Contras(in addition to the murder of thousands of people, mostly innocent civilians) was a sabotaged election where the Nicaraguan people felt obligated to put the "pro-American" anti-left coalition in power or face continued American-backed terror and starvation, and given that the policies put in place by that government and its even more right-wing successors until 2006 brought nothing but misery to Nicaragua, why would anyone here, why would anyone who claims to be even slightly "progressive" fall for the same propaganda when it comes to Venezuela?

Do these people NOT read history? Were they not following events in this hemisphere then? Do they not see the parallels between what the U.S. did then(and what it had done before that) and what it's trying to do now?

If Fox News openly told people to rise up and overthrow Obama they would be shut down in no time.
