White Dude Gets Slap on the Wrist for Threatening to Kill People; Brown Dudes, Like, WTF!?

White Dude Gets Slap on the Wrist for Threatening to Kill People; Brown Dudes, Like, WTF!?
By Imani Gandy (ABL) January 12th, 2013

Isn’t it nice when unhinged white folks can record YouTube videos of themselves threatening to kill people if they don’t get their way, and the only response is that the local Department of Homeland Security revokes their gun permit?

If James Yeager had been Jalal al Yeager or Tyrone Yeager, who wants to wager that the response to his roid tantrum this week would have been vastly different?
Anyone?

******************

Phew. They suspended his gun permit. That settles that. It’s not like there’s any possible way he could have guns or get guns. Not with our airtight gun regulations. Besides, he seems nice, so we can all breathe a sigh of relief.

Gotta love how white dudes can videotape themselves threatening mass murder, then later release a statement that says “I was mad when I said that shit, but I totally meant it,” and end up getting only a slap on the wrist.

Being white must be nice.

Even black dudes sometimes get probation and suspended sentences. Sometimes they benefit from D.A.'s declining to prosecute.

Anyway, you do no know if David Gregory was told by his taff that they had gotten clearance, do you? Did David Gregory threaten to kill Wayne LaPierre? Don't think so. You NRA sympathizers just push things to the ludicrous extreme.

But this is such a futile Argument and all it does is antagonize people.

This is all for show. Even if it passes, I hardly think it will stop mass killings. Believing that the gun laws I've heard proposed will change anything is such a self delusion. The video games train these kids to change magazines when entering a new room for gods sakes.

Another NRA talking point--

Through vicious, violent video games with names like Bulletstorm, Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Kombat and Splatterhouse. And here’s one: it’s called Kindergarten Killers. It’s been online for 10 years. How come my research department could find it and all of yours either couldn’t or didn’t want anyone to know you had found it?--Wayne LaPierre

Ah yes, Kindergarten Killer—the real culprit behind our nation's epidemic of gun violence. So insidious is this game that no one has ever heard of it, let alone played it. The NRA blames the media for that. Because when the media aren't busy corrupting our moral fiber by promoting violent entertainment, they're corrupting our moral fiber by not promoting violent entertainment.

And some were outright executed. The Black Panthers beef was with Police. The Black Panthers formed to protect blacks from being targeted and beaten up by the police in black neighborhoods. Slowly but surely the cops went at them.

I have a friend who resigned from the Seattle Police force in 1968 because of the actions of his fellow officers during a three day riot here sparked by a raid on the local Panther headquarters. He said that the officers he worked with were targeting any and all black males between the ages of 14 and 30, and beating them up. He resigned in protest.

They did do some ballsy things though, like invade the California state assembly chamber in 1967. During that invasion, and other public actions, they made no threats to "start killing people" and no shots were fired.

There were also some very stupid actions by the Panthers, like provoking shootouts with cops. It's the stupid that gets you killed.

Not shot down right there but shot sooner or later. Fred Hampton, Mark Clark and George Jackson to name a couple of the many. Please, that fox newser spewing racial hate is accepted by the culture. A white male can call our POTUS a liar during the sad state of the union address. No censure, no nothing. A black caucus member had shouted out like that to bushmonkey, fox news and major medias and house members would would still be outraged, talking about it and damning the culprit that did it, a year later. Does the law say possession is only illegal if there is an accompanying weapon? It's my (limited) understanding that mere possession is sufficient to violate the law.

And I'm not buying the "journalist making a point" point. How can there be a 1st Amendment right to possessing a 30-round magazine but no 2nd Amendment right? Journalists do not possess elite rights denied to the rest of us.

Either we deserve the same consideration afforded Mr. Gregory or he should be held to account to the same laws we are subject to and he -- hypocritically -- demands we obey.

The unwritten standard that seems to exist is that if the journalistic value of breaking a given law far outweighs the cost/damage to the community and country of the law being broken, the journalist is usually given a pass.

Obviously, it depends on the given prosecutor that has jurisdiction over the area where the journalist committed the crime.

old coworker of mine did something rather stupid (and they called me stupid? ) mailed out well dropped one in Lincoln NE as well as several others around Iowa all containing the word Bomb and a usb stick to the FBI. I doubt seriously he intended to harm anyone, one of the nicest guys I've met (and he's not straight so he changed my opinion about alot of things) ie if you look up someone being charged in Lincoln NE for dropping a package with the word bomb on it. well thats who. So he'll be facing a few years for faking it. While someone who clearly wasn't faking it. uh why isn't he in jail?? Cause he's in a very red state. (more red than Nebraska.. well Lincoln is more Purple than anything else. eastern Nebraska that is. and he's asian. not born in asia. From people who would actually shoot people up, these threats should be well enforced. So this nimrod should be in jail alot longer than my old supervisor will be.

As I know the supervisor/former coworker via email within . think I last heard from him maybe 2 years ago. that email addy doesn't work anymore... Won't actually name him. But supposedly he did this because of the security company he worked for. Problem is. the local news won't state what company that is and I know he only worked for one. So for that I can't say much more. Say might have jury duty at the end of the month. unless my psych thinks being clinically depressed will get me off. I normally would be all for it but mentally no. Hope the trial stays in Nebraska. Think that would be a conflict of interest.

Georgia Militia Terrorists Fit DHS Bulletin Profile Perfectly

The DHS had the temerity to make reports on RW extremism in 2008 and 2009:

...But then, we remember what happened next: right-wing hysterics took to the airwaves and the blogosphere to denounce the report as somehow a kind of "smear" of mainstream conservatives, which really was only a kind of unconscious self-indictment. Nonetheless, the Beltway media played along willingly, the result being that the DHS ultimately apologized for the report, and then proceeded to completely gut its unit devoted to monitoring right-wing extremist terrorism...

...The shouting and hysterics worked then, and they're still affecting how we talk about this. Time for that to come to an end...

Yes, it is. Time to call it what it is.

in most cases the law enforcement response differs based on
(1) Which side of left/right divide the person in question is from.
(2) A perception that threats for certain segment of population (overwhelmingly white) are merely
an expression of their frustrations.

So there is both a racial and an ideological discrimination when it comes to dealing with persons making threats.

This type of discrimination extends in how we treat other countries.

For example Iranian President's one time assertion about "whipping Israel out" (even though the context and timing of his speech were clearly aimed for domestic politics and his statement was about renaming the country to Palestine," has been passed round as a clear indication of his intents.

We've got people locked away in Gitmo for far less than what Yeager did.

We've got people locked up in Tennessee for having a few pills or a sack of weed. Yet Yeager can threaten law enforcement and every citizen in this state, and his awesome tattoos seem to keep him from facing the consequences of his paranoid delusional spouting off.

So much for Tennessee keeping its citizens safe from murder, as long as we're safe from cannabis...
