Matt Damon's "Promised Land"

Just saw it with most of our anti-fracking protest crew. Now I know why the newspaper panned the film: couldn't expect anything else from a paper that has become THE mouthpiece of the oilgas industry in these parts. In our county alone we're approaching 20K wells. If anything, the film is far too kind to the extractors. We're in deep trouble here. Deep.

like so many other movies. In Fla, movies like Food Inc. and Freedom to Facsism, and even Farenheight 911 had to get a lot of people to demand it be shown in Fla. So at least many will now become aware of fracking, and can google it when they get home and read the rest. hopefully.

that, after the movie, we were giving out info CDs to any who wanted them. Amazed at how many people had no idea.

To see what we're living with, go on Facebook and look for FrackFiles.

in the early stages of fracking in this part of Ohio. The companies have bought up
drilling rights everywhere, they are in the process of building the infrastructure to process and ship the fuel now. They are drilling some wells where there are existing pipelines. It is supposed to be a huge industry in a few years.

Have seen Gasland, and Josh Fox has been here. The flaming water scenes that made the news were shot not far from where I live. For those of us who've been actively confronting fracking the Damon film is info-lite. But we weren't expecting a documentary, we were hoping for something that would pique the interest of those not yet involved in the fight; judging by some of the comments heard last night, it does just that, and for that we are grateful.

This compelling Emmy Award winning documentary shows the dirty side of hydraulic fracturing and natural gas, an energy source the industry touts as a clean alternative to fossil fuels.

I have met these people... some of them are seriously hurting...
