Another case of just can't win.
First, who is going to eat ALL of that food? Just because it is there, you don't have to eat it all. There are a lot of choices to meet peoples tastes and dietary restrictions. And who says you can't splurge a bit on special occasions. You don't become obese from eating ONE big meal every four years.
If a spartan, low-calorie menu was selected, all we would have heard about was the food nazis pushing their agenda on everyone.

(11,441 posts)Pete Seeger lives! What channel are you watching? I'm watching CBS and rather than food critiques from Pelley and Schieffer, I"m getting little history lessons. (I may have missed calorie critiques while in the kitchen, since we're having our own little luncheon at my place...)
