Did anyone catch the NBC Today crew talking about what Mrs. Obama would be wearing today, when

in Matt Lauer piped up talked about the President's navy blue suit that we are, at this point, all so familiar with. Was that Lauer recognizing the sexism on display and then trying to fix the problem? Or is it my own hang-up in feeling discussing the lady's formal-wear to be a tad sexist and demeaning?

Your own hang-up. The FLOTUS attire is to highlight the AMERICAN designer, in this case WinkyDink Jan 2013 #1
So you would say typically the first lady invites the critique and commentary? n/t Ed Suspicious Jan 2013 #3

Michelle Obama's necktie-inspired coat and dress make perfect sartorial sense, considering the man who created them, Thom Browne.

The first lady's choice was in keeping with her penchant for championing lesser-known American designers.

And yes, I'm a feminist.

But how about those cool gloves? Right?

We like to feel included and to play the speculation game, and it's part of the image. Mrs. Obama is young and attractive and knows it. She has influence in fashion and uses it well. Some like the game and some don't, and if we let both flourish then it's neither sexist nor demeaning.
