(3,894 posts)Here's just a 30 second list of people I think we can all agree are not loveable, and not worthwhile, though with time I'm sure the list would be hugely longer.
George W Bush
Dick Cheney
George Zimmerman
Jeffrey Dahmers
Glenn Beck
Rush Limbaugh
Sean Hannity
Bill O'reilly
Megan Kelly
Ann Coulter

(3,894 posts)And that list of people are harmful to the humanity and the earth in general, and therefore not worthwhile. This kind of "everything is wonderful and everyone is loveable and great" bullshit just annoys the crap out of me. It's such pipe dream bullshit.
Those people harmful to humanity... well what are we going to do about them, hm? How are we going to find out who they are? If we need to do something about them quickly, or decisively, well... how much would it matter if some worthwhile people got caught up in whatever it is we're doing about the harmful people?
Not that you need me to tell you this. I hope.

(3,894 posts)believe that all persons are worthwhile and loveable, it simply isn't true and never will be. It's as bad as believing in a skydaddy or believing that the Repubs will ever actually govern for the majority of citizens, naive.

(7,804 posts)I know what you mean and a few years ago I held to similar feelings. But my own life became simpler and easier and I found it more comfortable to forgive.
The love given is a thing in itself and needn't necessarily reflect any measure of the object of the love. Money is earned, love is given.
There, wasn't that nice and profound?

(3,894 posts)One might choose to forgive, but that's not what's being requested here. What's being requested is a naivete that includes believing everyone is worthwhile and everyone is loveable, it simply isn't true. I may forgive someone who isn't loveable and/or worthwhile but I will not be stupid enough to pretend they are not who they've chosen to be and I will do my best to keep those I love either away from them or fully aware of their shennanigans and such so that my loved ones are not snookered by such worthless and/or unloveable folks.
I guess that's that.

(26,449 posts)Just maybe those people end up like that because they were raised in a world devoid of messages like Kai's.
Really, he is paraphrasing the messages from all the recognized holy men right up to today's Dalai Lama.
Who am I to know? But when I act in love, the world is a better place.

(15,262 posts)Fresno County sheriffs deputies arrested Jett Simmons McBride, 54, of Tacoma on suspicion of ramming his car into the worker. McBride was booked into the Fresno County Jail early Saturday on suspicion of attempted murder. His bail was set at $1 million.
According to sheriffs officials: About 2 p.m. Friday, McBride drove his car toward a PG&E work crew, wedging workers between two vehicles west of Highway 99 in Fresno.
McBride had picked up a hitchhiker, who said McBride was making racist remarks when he came upon the PG&E workers, one of whom was black.
Police say McBride lodged the black worker between his car and the work truck, got out of his car and began beating the worker and attacking others who tried to stop him. The hitchhiker then got out of the car and started hitting McBride with a hatchet, officials said.
Witnesses say the hitchhiker eventually knocked out McBride, who is 6 feet 4 and weighs 290 pounds, according to jail records.
This is what confused me, Kai's video: "Even the fucking guy I killed with the hatchet."
