President Obama Calls Harbaugh

“Please tell em all how proud of we are of them,” he said.

Obama telephoned head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Ozzie Newsome on Tuesday afternoon to congratulate them and the team for their 34-31 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

“I know that Baltimore couldn't be more excited," said the president adding that he new it was a ‘bumpy’ season all around. “And for you guys to stay steady the way you did is really a great feat.”

Obama also talked about how moved he and first lady Michelle Obama were by the story of O.J. Brigance. The former Ravens linebacker was diagnosed in 2007 with Lou Gehrig's disease and now gets around using a wheelchair and communicates by a device that translates his thoughts.

“It was very inspiring,” he said.

In Ozzie we trust. I love that they brought O.J. Brigance on the management team, keep him on and that he travels with them to important games. He is an inspiration.
