Sign of the times? My nephews deployment has been deferred!!!

Thank everything!!!

He is in the army, combat-ready and trained, got orders right around Christmas saying he would be on his way to the Wardak province in early January.
Yesterday my mom called to say it was deferred.

I am relieved and I hope troops start coming home soon.

Granted…he could still be deployed at anytime but I was really hoping this deferral would be the case. It was just about a few weeks after getting the original news that the administration announced backing off of the combat role in Afghanistan.

Plus, my nephew, while being a really kind-hearted guy who was a volunteer-firefighter was originally a little more excited to deploy at first….. but he had a daughter and I think that made him re-think this and it made him a bit more somber about the prospects.

Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!!
