‘Dr. Ruth’ and Neil DeGrasse Tyson settle the question of ‘Does size matter?’

In a meeting of scientific minds, astrophysicist Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson hosted sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer on his “Star Talk” podcast, and what started as a viewer’s question about the former planet Pluto segued into a topic firmly in Westheimer’s wheelhouse.

“Concerning Pluto’s planetary status, does size really matter?” Tyson said, reading the question before laughing.

“Neil, tell all of your viewers: size of that part of the male anatomy that we are talking about — the penis — size does not matter,” Westheimer replied. “A woman’s vagina can accomodate all sizes. Now, if someone has a miniscule one, that’s another story.”

Westheimer also had advice for men looking to increase their sexual self-esteem.

“Here is what I tell them to do — not in your studio, at home,” she offered. “Stand in front of a full-length mirror, bring yourself to sexual satisfaction, stand there and admire the erection. You will never worry about penis size again.”

Later in the show, Westheimer also offered her perspective on male enhancement products, or “chemically-altered sexual performance” pills, as Tyson called them.

“Anybody who’s doctor says they can take these pills, I have nothing against it,” she said. “However, an important point: Here’s a man taking the pill, he now has an erection from the floor to the ceiling -”

“I’ll take your word for it,” Tyson interjected.
