Christie to ex-White House doctor: 'Shut up'

SEA GIRT, N.J. - Gov. Chris Christie lashed out Wednesday at a former White House doctor who said she worries about the governor dying in office because he is so heavy, telling her to "shut up."

Dr. Connie Mariano, who served as White House physician from 1992 to 2001, told CNN she'd like to see Christie run for president in 2016 but that he needs to lose weight. She said she worries he could have a heart attack or stroke.

"I'm worried about this man dying in office," the doctor, who has a practice in Scottsdale, Ariz., told the network.

During a visit Wednesday to a shore town devastated by Superstorm Sandy, Christie was asked about the doctor's comments.

Unless Mariano gives him a physical exam and learns his family history, "she should shut up," the governor said.

I wonder if Dr. Mariano still wants to see him run?

I've met her. And Christie would never be so rude to her face, once he met her. In fact, he'd probably want to give her a hug.

Do you forget the video where he yelled at a teacher for asking a reasonable question?

and fat. He is also an obnoxious bully.

And the doctor is probably a perfectly nice person.

She is still wrong to do what she did. I would be very upset if I had a doctor speculating about my health publicly.

In this day and age I think everybody is pretty much aware that morbid obesity is not a healthy situation.

I can't stand the man, but weight should have nothing to do with becoming president. Obama smoked cigarettes for 30 yrs. He has quit, but he did so on his own not because someone told him he couldn't be president if he smoked.

This man is not his doctor, and Christie didn't ask him for medical advice. Doctors in today's society should just shut their damned traps, when their "advice" is not asked for.
Maybe they need MORE people like Christie today.

Although I'm still 235 lbs on a 6-1 frame, I have been up to 289lbs at one point, and well above my current weight for 3/5ths of my life....our weight is often a contentious subject, especially coming from a stranger. I'd guess he hears a lot about his girth, and I'm going to assume he's heard it as long as he's been heavy....I'm not so sure I wouldn't have said the same or something slightly less caustic.....governor or Joe Schmo, remarks about weight, even coming from a professional, still hurt....even Cristie is still human...

takes. The "before and after" pics are famous. Obviously, a person's health when they go into office is a legitimate concern.
