Why did any Democrats and progressives suppport the 2006 Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act?

It'e pretty obvious why the Repos supported it.

But Bernie Sanders co-sponsored it in the Senate, if I remember correctly.

I'd appreciate some insight on how even one Democrat or progressive may have supported this thing.

to make it a separate entity.
Back when I was growing up, post cards were 1 cent, stamps 3 cent, and, mail we delivered by a walking
postman twice a day. This was in small town (7000), so don't know if larger cities had trucks for their postmen or not.

In 2006 he was in the House. Not sure how he voted.

The 2012 Act was trying to avoid or slow down the problems that the 2006 Act created, but it did not pass the House.

But the bigger question remains, how any Democrat or progressive could support the '06 bill. What am I not getting about this?

Sanders really co-sponsored it??? IF so (even if NOT so,) maybe we should holler at him. AND ALL THE REST OF THEM!

Am really pissed, and wonder how pissed others will be in August, when Saturday letter delivery ends.

He is a smart guy. And he has smart guys and gals working for him. Could it be that maybe, just maybe they could see the USPS could not survive in it's current form with the loss first class mail. When both the Dems and GOP agree on something maybe, just maybe it's the right move?

Not so great if we want to preserve an efficient and world class system that does a better job than most and costs less, like government health care. I suppose you are opposed to that, too.
