(23,867 posts)The real failures were so blatant some say they were on purpose. Like Bush's Aug 6th PDB that he ignored. And you know what happened as a result.
Don't believe the hype.

(14,177 posts)Sort of kidding here. I don't know enough about this thing to form a solid opinion one way or another. But, it is troubling. And you language is a red flag as well. It seems to put people in us and them categories and it's probably not a helpful world view.

(6,238 posts)Sadly, he is in the right place. As long as these actions are done by Democrats and as long as this site makes support of Democrats its main criteria for membership then posts as ignorant and disgusting as the OPs are in the right place. I hate reading them because I think they are ignorant and dangerous, but the current Democratic administration supports them and this site's admins have made it clear over the years that they will not change this site to liberunderground or something similar. It speaks volumes about what the Democratic Party has become.

(14,177 posts)It seems demonizing. I don't actually know enough about this drone thing to have a strong opinion one way or another. I don't think it's a great idea, but if it is that or the choice of invading a country I think I would chose drones. The lesser of two evils may still be evil, but I would rather see fewer people killed.
There is another thread around here an excellent thought experiment. The premise is Belgium uses drones against US citizens that are suspected of being terrorists. They launch the attacks on July 4th with no warning to our government and there is collateral damage. Well if it is good enough for us, I suppose it is good enough for them.
I think the problem is there are no easy answers. People want to feel safe. For some that means having an arsenal in their home. For some it means having the ability to kill a potential terrorist from a remote location. Personally I can't cry too much if a known terrorist is killed by a drone whether they are a US citizen or not. I don't think it will be done on US soil, but I have been known to be overly optimistic especially where human nature is concerned.
In any case we don't need to use derogatory language against people we don't even know. And I think we should do a lot more diplomatic missions and we should help other countries out as a gesture of good will instead of just bombing all we can bomb.
