Are you suggesting that Ted Nugent would somehow make more sense if Wayne LaPierre put lipstick on him ?

Ted Nugent is in an old band and did something with a golf cart? And I have no idea who North is. Like "North" the movie?

No one here (at work) knows him either, except the boss, who snorted??

Is it worth googling?

No, I really didn't know, and neither did at least 5 others. There is apparently a lot more to the Iran Contra issue than I knew. When we were taught this, they mostly focused on hostages and how it caused problems for Pres. Carter. Not meaning to look stupid--but this just wasn't taught. I did well in high school (AP US History) and didn't take history in college. I often wish now that I had, they left out too much.

I didn't read a lot on him, but he also ran for congress. After all that the republicans still love him.

Yes, I feel some hope as well.

My pre-teen granddaughter is not a Beiber fan, which I find very encouraging. She's into some boy band called One Direction, so there is that. I seem to remember her grandmother (aka Mimi) being into a couple boy bands called the Beatles and The Rolling Stones. My dad seemed to blame the state of the world on them until the day he died. Of course, when he picked my friend and me up in Long Beach after seeing them on their first tour, he took one look at my shredded stockings and torn mini-skirt and said I'd never go to a concert again. He was a moderate Republican and was wrong about the concert and the GOP.

I'm still proud that when my best friend and I went to Woolworth's with our $3.33 to buy a record, I picked the Stones first album, she wanted Herman's Hermits. Fortunately, I "won" in two ways. We got "The Rolling Stones" and she's still my bestest friend. It's our 50th friend anniversary year and I feel so fortunate.

I was SO glad that Nugent wasn't shown during the SOTU. At least on MSNBC and I think (though don't know for sure) that there was one feed and not every network had cameras. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. Happy Heart's Day to all!

If your son asked that question 35 years ago you'd be worried that he was missing out on the latest rock-n-roll fad. But now that he's come out as a psycho gun nut, his music has become more worthless now than it was back then.

Nugent was shepherded over to a standing MSNBC camera. Two police officers looked on, confused by the mobile media herd.

“Who’s that?” asked one cop.

“It’s Ted Nugent,” said the other cop. “He’s a rock star, he talks about guns.”

“Really? Never heard of him.”

also routinely ask me who any music performer playing more than a decade before they were born is.

There are exceptions, of course, but generally speaking, young people don't listen to older performers. That's why I usually end each period with some song they've never heard before.

Not Ted Nugent, though, lol.
