Let the repubs in the senate filibuster the President's republican pick for defense secretary. Let it drag out for a few weeks and get a lot of airplay. And Senator Hagel, PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM ONE MORE JOT OF INFORMATION. You've answered all the questions on the forms and in Committee. Just ride it out.
This move on the part of senate republicans will backfire big time. The takeaway will be that republicans are doing something unprecedented and they're doing it to a fellow republican solely to thwart the President.
I hope they fuck themselves but good with this vile stunt.

(46,416 posts)I think this is repugnant of the rethugs, Hagel is eminently qualified to be SecDef, he's walked the walk and talked the talk.
This will hopefully hurt them badly.
Except that I do NOT want this nonsense to drag on and on... Tomorrow morning we'll find out more http://e-ring.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2013/02/14/reid_sets_hagel_showdown_for_friday_morning_claims_gop_leave_us_without_defense_sec#.UR0Ggqm86k8.twitter
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) opened Thursdays Senate floor session by announcing he will test the Republicans filibuster threat and call for a vote to end debate over Hagels nomination on Friday morning.
To end debate will require 60 votes. Senate Republicans claim they have the votes to effectively block Hagels confirmation, though many concede by now that Hagel is a lock for the job. Democrats believe the handful of votes they need will come, but they are not there yet.
"Senate Republican leadership has informed us that they intend to withhold the votes needed to clear cloture and proceed to a final passage vote on the Hagel nomination," a Senate Democratic leadership aide told reporters in an email, following Reid's announcement.
"We need two more votes to get to 60. Thats the state of play right now," said an official working on Hagel's nomination. Democrats have 55 votes, plus Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME), Thad Cochran (R-MS), and Mike Johanns, from Hagel's home state of Nebraska.
